Over the last two years the number of mobile payments service deployments in emerging markets has grown exponentially and most markets, particularly in Asia Pacific and Africa, now benefit from multiple mobile payment deployments. Where regulation allows, many of these deployments are operator-led initiatives, facilitated by a growing appetite for collaboration from financial institutions beginning to recognise the strategic importance of the mobile channel to reach new (and many otherwise unbanked) customers.
