Innovative Mobile Data Solutions for the Enterprise Market

Recent advances in wireless technologies and price decreases in data connectivity have enabled Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) to enhance mobile data access services especially for the highly demanding business market. In mature cellular markets, new data communication services represent a key revenue source for MNOs, often compensating for static or declining voice communications revenues affected by decreasing interconnection and per minute voice rates. In this report we examine innovations by MNOs in the wireless data market across small, medium and large enterprises. More specifically:

  • We present innovative mobile broadband service propositions offered in combination with newly introduced HSDPA handheld devices and highlight the broad choice of push e-mail services currently offered to business customers across the SME and large enterprise segments.
  • We assess data connectivity revenues in terms of ARPU contribution and show how Swisscom Mobile in Switzerland and TME in Spain have both achieved encouraging ARPU impacts as a consequence of their innovative data solutions.
