Roaming Tariff Benchmarks for Voice, SMS, MMS & GPRS (Contract Segment)

This paper is the first of three papers Mobile Market Development will publish on international roaming during the 2005 MWP program. The report provides a detailed benchmarking analysis of roaming structures and pricing benchmarks across 15 operators in 7 major Western European countries. The focus is on voice, SMS, MMS and GPRS based roaming models for the consumer contract segment.

This report will be invaluable to pricing managers. Extensive research and analysis has been undertaken to allow comparison of the wide diversity of roaming structures and pricing levels found. The report will help operators to understand how they compare against others both in terms of approach (pricing structure) and absolute tariff levels. It will also inspire consideration of alternative approaches to the pricing of roaming services.

A separate report will be available shortly providing a benchmark analysis of roaming models for the prepay segment.

The final report in the series will discuss and highlight emerging strategies and best practices in the design and promotion of roaming tariffs.
