Mobile Market Development's benchmark analysis of 38 International mobile operators (see Figure 5) demonstrates how the proportion of contract segment customers within the customer base, varies dramatically between markets. The contract customer segment data presented in Figure 5 below includes business segment contract customers. At the high end of the consumer contract segment there is also some overlap with the business segment, as there are a large proportion of customers in the SOHO segment being served by traditional consumer retail channels.
Consumers typically represent 75%-80% of the total customer base for the average European mobile operator. The proportion of these who are contract customers can vary considerably.
