3G Pricing Strategies

November 2003 (34 pages)
Many operators who upgraded their billing systems to accommodate the introduction of 2.5G packet switched services, recognised that in making that move they were also effectively preparing a suitable platform for 3G service billing, since it also is packet based. Indeed some operators (e.g. Vodafone Ireland) are already updating price plans on their websites and labelling their transport based GPRS tariffs as GPRS/3G tariffs, charging in the same manner for both.

However, in order to consider alternative approaches, we have prepared two case studies focusing on the pricing strategies adopted NTT DoCoMo in Japan and '3' in the UK, in their respective launch markets.

Price: EUR 1,250.00 / GBP 1,000.00
