O2 Ireland recently developed its own solution to address enterprise requirements for the real time separation of business and personal calls. With its Group worker solution, the costs of business related calls appear on the enterprise's mobile bill while the cost of personal calls are borne by the employee who uses a prepay account which is debited whenever a personal call is made.
When initially launched in March 2003, Group worker was promoted as a cost management solution and targeted at SMEs. Initially 80% of the demand for the service came from SMEs and 20% from corporates. More recently, Corporate customers have expressed more interest and now account for approximately half of the customer base for the service.
